Epoxy Floors

Epoxy is a type of polymer material that begins as a liquid and is converted to a solid state through a controlled chemical reaction. Because of this change in state, epoxy floor coatings are typically a mechanically strong and chemically resistant type of flooring. Epoxy floor coatings are highly adhesive during the conversion from liquid to solid allowing them to create a secure bond with both new and old concrete flooring surfaces.

There are a wide variety of applications and uses for epoxy flooring including epoxy floor paint in commercial and industrial settings. Epoxy floor coatings can also be used as vapor barriers over concrete slabs and foundations in new construction. USA Floor-Tec has installed hundreds of thousands of square feet of epoxy flooring systems in government facilities, industrial kitchens, prison facilities, laboratories, universities, etc. We have installed both floor paint applications using a 2-part epoxy floor coating compound as well as liquid epoxy vapor barrier materials using a 2-part liquid epoxy floor coating designed for covering concrete floors.

Epoxy flooring applications have recently grown in popularity for residential garages. All garage floor coatings and shop floors are first ground and/or shot blasted for prep as well as degreased. Epoxies can be installed as a clear, colored or decorative finishes that are available in many styles and colors. They can includevinyl chips, metallic chips and other reflectors or coloredaggregate. USA Floor-Tec typically recommends urethane top-coats for all epoxy coating applications.

Epoxy coatings are a very popular commercial flooring application because of their excellent adhesion, chemical and heat resistance, good-to-excellent mechanical properties as well as good electrical insulating properties.
